The Saxxon
An urban oasis of calm in a matt white guise
The Saxxon—formerly known as the Castello residential complex—stands in the heart of Frankfurt and, following extensive renovation, is now synonymous with urban clarity and precision craftsmanship: a building that exudes a new sense of calm and value thanks to its careful renovation. Its transformed presence in the urban space is significantly influenced by the matt white façade made of TONALITY® terracotta, which envelops the ensemble in a delicate, tactile texture.
The terracottae lements create a surface that reacts vividly depending on the light and perspective: discreetly matt in the diffuse morning light, gently reflective in the evening sun. This controlled interplay of smoothness and relief gives The Saxxon a sculptural effect that emphasizes its architectural order. The precisely executed pilaster strips and horizontal divisions structure the building and underline its powerful, calm presence – an interplay of scale, material, and light that breathes new life into the historic building.
