Polygon
Architecture Beyond Right Angles
With its gleaming white TONALITY® terracotta façade, the Polygon residential and commercial property in Bottighofen dominates the townscape on Lake Constance. Designed by Art of Loft AG, the building deliberately breaks with right angles – the approximately 500 m² façade was constructed at a striking 35-degree angle, emphasizing the avant-garde character of the project.
The terracotta elements were deliberately cut into segments of different sizes and arranged in a seemingly random structure, giving the building envelope a lively and multi-layered appearance. The ADS substructure from TONALITY® uses mounting hooks at different installation depths to create the characteristic overlapping look, which gives the facade a subtle, three-dimensional staggered effect. The principle of asymmetrical geometry was also consistently applied to the window frames – no two angles of the reveals, lintels, or window sills are the same.
The project was implemented on site in collaboration with SFT Swiss Fassadentechnik AG.
