Het Kadehuis
A gleaming white shell on the Rhine
As a contemporary new building, the Het Kadehuis home studio in Arnhem strengthens the connection between the city and the Rhine. Lively arcades enliven the ground floor and create space for working and living, while a diverse residential environment unfolds above. The design is characterized by staggered building volumes and precisely placed openings – complemented by striking, softly rounded cutouts that give the façade grid a distinctive signature.
The character of the building is shaped by the chosen TONALITY® terracotta façade: Vertically profiled terracotta elements create a subtle rhythm and sculpt the building envelope in shifting light. In a bright, warm white and with a glossy finish, the terracotta has a calm appearance and creates a controlled contrast to the sand-colored window reveals. As a result, the windows are perceived as deep, carefully defined openings – and the Kadehuis gains a restrained, precise, and elegant presence in the urban landscape.
ESC Dronten executed the sophisticated façade with a high degree of craftsmanship and precision.
